온주 백신포털 이용자 36만명 정보 털려
이름·전화번호 유출...주정부 직원 기소

온타리오 코로나 백신 포털사이트가 해킹당해 약 36만 명의 개인 정보가 유출됐다.
9일 온주 공공서비스부는 "이들 사례의 95%는 이름과 전화번호가 노출됐다"고 밝혔다.
온주 백신센터는 이날부터 개인 정보가 유출된 사람들에게 안내 이메일을 발송할 예정이다.
온주경찰(OPP)은 작년 11월16일 코로나 예방접종 시스템을 통해 예약하거나 백신 인증서에 접속한 개인이 받은 스팸 문자 메시지에 대한 보고가 표면화되자 수사에 착수했다.
이후 오타와에 거주하는 퀘벡 출신의 아욥 사이드Ayob Sayid(21)와 라힘 압두Rahim Abdu(22)는 '컴퓨터 무단 사용' 혐의로 기소됐다. 이중 아욥 사이드는 주정부 소비자 서비스부의 직원으로 백신 예약 콜센터에서 일했다.
공공서비스장관은 "온타리오 코로나 백신 예약 시스템은 보건부 사이버 보안 프로토콜의 일부로 정기적으로 모니터링되고 있다"며 "(현) 예약 시스템은 주민들이 사용할 수 있는 안전한 도구가 될 것으로 확신한다"고 말했다.

백신센터에 저장되어 있던 제 개인정보(이름과 전화번호)가 도용되었다는 아래 내용이 이메일로 전해졌습니다.
어쩐지 올해내내 캐나다 정부기관이다 뭐다 하면서 전화가 꽤 많이 왔었습니다. 제가 멍청한 놈이 아닌지라, "지랄육갑 떨고 있네. 네가 캐나다 정부 기관이면, 나는 캐나다 수상이다"라면서 전부 무시해버렸기에 별 문제는 없었습니다.

I am contacting you to notify you about a privacy breach that involved your personal health information registered in the COVID-19 immunization system used by the Provincial Vaccine Contact Centre and vaccine administrators at clinics across the province. The centre is overseen by the Ministry of Public and Business Service Delivery on behalf of the Ministry of Health.
The ministries became aware of this privacy breach last year on November 16, 2021, and immediately began an investigation. At that time, some members of the public began receiving financial spam messages to their mobile phones attempting to obtain financial information.
The breach was immediately reported to the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario with updates provided to their office since then. The matter was also immediately referred to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) for investigation. Last year, on November 22, 2021, the OPP laid charges against two individuals, one of whom was a contracted former employee of the contact centre.
In recent months, as a result of the investigation conducted by the OPP, the ministries received a list of people impacted by this privacy breach based on evidence seized. In over 95% of these cases a person’s name on its own or with their phone number were stolen. The accused’s laptops seized by the OPP contained your name and phone number.
With the arrests of the involved parties within days of the first spam messages being delivered, and the seizure of their laptops, the ministry believes this privacy breach was quickly contained. While there is no action required on your part at this time, there is additional information at the end of this notification that you may find useful.
I assure you the COVID-19 immunization system is regularly monitored and tested as part of our cyber security protocols to ensure the safety of the COVID-19 system and we are confident in the security of the data currently in the system.
