Exceptional financial measures to attract staff
For a limited time only:
- Any person hired by the Nunavik Police Service and who commits in writing to work as a full-time police officer for a minimum of one (1) year will receive a gross lump sum payment of eight thousand dollars ($8,000) upon commencement of employment.
- The person who remains in full-time employment for an additional six (6) months after the one-year commitment period will receive a gross lump sum payment of ten thousand dollars ($10,000).
*Employees hired as cadets and promised employment as constables (for example, RCMP Depot program) are excluded from this exceptional measure. The terms and conditions of this exceptional measure are defined in Letter of Agreement #6 between the Kativik Regional Government and the Nunavik Police Association.

Applicants who do not hold a Police Academy diploma
The Nunavik Police Service accepts applications from individuals who do not have a diploma from the École nationale de police du Québec (Quebec police academy, ENPQ) or any other recognized Canadian police academy.
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
Post-secondary education will be considered an asset.
To meet the Quebec Police Act’s equivalence standards, the Nunavik Police Service will send recruits to the RCMP’s Depot police academy in Regina. Applicants must be willing to attend and pass the 26-week basic training program before starting their assignment with the Nunavik Police Service.
The Nunavik Police Service will pay the recruit’s tuition fees and will provide a $694.14 weekly salary during training. In exchange, applicants must be willing to sign an agreement to stay in the employ of the NPS for five years.
